The problem with marketing blogs is that there are just too many ways to do it. There’s Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, MSN Adcenter, article marketing and web directories, just to name a few.
To make things worse, many marketers suffer from information overload. With so much information out there on the Internet, it’s easy to get lost and confused. Without a marketing battle plan in mind, the blog is pretty much headed for failure. So consider these tips to set yourself up for success.
First, think about your linking strategy. Success for your blog depends on getting targeted traffic, and traffic comes links. Do a little bit of research and come up with a list of traffic sources that you can target. To help you save time, here are some suggestions.
You may wish to consider getting free traffic from article directories, web directories, press releases and other social networking sites. Choose one or two traffic sources and really focus on getting the links out so that your blog gets the much needed early exposure. Article marketing and web directories submissions are highly recommended because these two tactics are easy to understand and implement.
Don’t go chasing after the rest of the traffic sources until you feel that you’re getting a substantial stream of traffic from your current sources. You may then consider other sources such as uploading viral videos, forums, social networking sites and so on.
Remember, no traffic source is a hundred percent free. You can write and submit articles for free and get clicks within a few days but you still need time to write and submit those articles. So invest your resources wisely to maximize the results.
If your blog is new, you may want to submit your blog to web directories. Web directories will get your blog indexed in the search engines very quickly. There are many free web directories out there that you can submit your links to. Alternatively, you may want to hire someone else to submit your site for you. Go for a service provider with a professional track record and a positive reputation to ensure that the submissions are really done. Whenever possible, ask for verification. The best verfication is when your links start showing in the search engines. You may want to make a small order just to test out the service. If it works for you, continue using the same service provider. If you get this wrong, time and money will be wasted.
Finally, when building your links, place the relevant keywords as the anchor texts of your links. So if you blog is about green baseball bats, just put your links as green baseball bats and not anything else. Also, be reminded that link building requires consistent effort to work. If you’re submitting articles, submit ten articles on a weekly basis. If you’re submitting links, do the same. Your efforts will pay off eventually, and you may then reap the long term rewards.

Then, run your ads with ten different product descriptions. The titles and headlines should be consistent and identical, with only the advertising copy changing. Find out which product description works the best for your audience, and lose the others.
Then, run the same tests over and over again, but this time to determine price point. Set ten different prices, and see which one continually leads to most people to both click on your advertisement and read through your product description and sales copy. At the end of the page, put a “name and email” form and collect details for potential customers.
By using this simple strategy, you’ve created a marketing database, an easy email list, and given yourself the opportunity to market to people directly once your product launches. Not only that, you’ve determined the best name, description, and price for your online product. Not bad for a little AdWords spending, and certainly more cost effective than the traditional methods of gathering market information.

Target market analysis is one area of Internet marketing that is often overlooked or only briefly mentioned, but it is a vital part of setting up a marketing strategy. If it is done correctly, you will find the exact customer you need to market to and your sales will explode.
Here are some target market analysis questions to guide you in finding your ideal customer base. By narrowing down your market you will know what target market advertising to use and who you are really talking to.
1. Is your ideal customer female or male?
2. What type of job profile does your perfect customer fit into? Are they an executive dealing with a number of employees or a stay-at-home mother raising children?
3. Where does the ideal customer shop for this product? Do they look for it on the Internet, off-line or both?
4. Is this product or service going to be used as a gift or for the customers themselves?
5. What is the income level of the customer that would like this product?
6. Is this product or service needed for a one-time use or is it needed repeatedly?
7. What would be the income level of the perfect customer?
8. Is this something that is needed, or something that is wanted?
9. What age range are you targeting?
When you go through this list of questions, you can see for yourself where this is heading. You can make a mental image of the customer you are addressing and be better able to start a marketing campaign based on what you see.
Target Market Analysis: Case # 1
Let’s take for example men’s electric shavers. You’re going to start a new website about men’s electric shavers and point your customers to Amazon or eBay to do some shopping. At this point you can narrow down your target audience very easily.
Quite obviously, in this case, you are going to be talking to men. They will be of any age range (except children), they can be from any income level and they can have any job profile. It is something that is needed to keep a man groomed, and it is only something that he will need to purchase once in a while.
Since it is something that can be used as a gift, you may want to look at targeting women during the Christmas season, since many of them will be purchasing these shavers for their husbands at this time of the year. When Father’s Day comes around, you can market to wives and older children.
It doesn’t matter what the product or service is that you are offering. You can define your market very easily by using this list, and you can also use it to help brainstorm marketing ideas. This list is pure gold when you use it to narrow down your customer base and look for ideas.
You can see that you have a wide audience for this shaver product, and as long as you remember that you are targeting men, most of the year, you should be able to find buyers.
Target Market Analysis: Case # 2
Now let’s take a not so obvious product and break it down further.
If you take the example of weight loss, and want to sell a new diet pill, then you may have to do some investigation to narrow down your target audience.
The first thing you should do is find out whether more women than men take diet pills, or vice versa, or whether they both seem to take them equally. If you find out that one gender takes them much more than the other then you have narrowed your market down to 50% of the population. This is good.
To find out most of this information, all you need to do is look at forums. For the weight loss pill, you need to find forums where this actual pill is discussed. It is then just a matter of looking at the details of the posters. Is it men or women engaging in this topic?
You will find out a lot at forums. You may think that a diet pill is something that people would just want to help them lose weight, yet find out from the forum that there are people that feel that they desperately need this diet pill. You may find posters there that believe that if they don’t get their hands on this pill, they will never lose weight.
You can find out who your target market is and what they are thinking by reading posts at a forum and really listening to what is being said. Sometimes you can even find out their age, education levels and job positions by looking at their profiles.
You can really make a marketing explosion if you know who you are talking to and what they really want. Take some time to do some digging and find out more about the types of people that are buying your products.
In your pursuit of doing target market analysis, you can even start investigating some market survey sites to see if there have been studies on your product that show what kinds of people are buying it. You’ll be surprised at what has been surveyed and at times very surprised by the results as well.

Mission Critical Strategy #1 – List Building: The very first critical thing you need to know how to do in order to be able market your MLM on the Internet is understanding the importance of list building. This is nothing more than incorporating technology that allows you to build a list of prospects who are reaching out for what you’ve got.
List building is the single most relevant aspect of your business, because if you don’t learn how to do that then nothing can be built beyond that in terms of how to market your MLM on the Internet. Failing to successfully do list building is no different than trying to build a skyscraper and trying to start by building the 13th floor. No list equals no business . . . period.

There are several ways you can monetize your prospects including, but not limited to, putting a link to a salespage in your emails and hosting monthly webinars/teleconferences in which you share relevant content for the first 3/4 then offer a solution via a product during the final 1/4.
It’s when all three of these strategies for how to market your MLM on the Internet come together in a harmonious way that you will see your business explode. List building is one of the key methods of making money online, but what must be understood is that yes you do generate a list of targeted subscribers. You sell them some stuff, then you sell them some more stuff… But just doing the previous is where many marketers go wrong and find there not making much money from their list. What we will talk about is the importance of creating a relationship with your list, which will in turn generate more income for you.
Ok so before we even start its vital your in a market that people are buying in, if your trying to sell something that no-one is buying, theres no point in even starting. And it seems common sense but many do make this mistake, and some do it without even knowing they are.
A great way to check this is to head over to Google, type in the area your product/service applies to and from the amount of paid ads that appear shows just how much that product is sort after. Equally if you find that your product/ service is in a highly competitive market then maybe you want to think about how you can advertise it as better than all the other products in the market.
But those were the basics, so we’ll get right back onto topic.
What I need to point out to you is the ugly truth about marketing online. That is most people will probably not buy your product first time they see it, especially if its a high ticket product.
This is why it is so important to create a relationship with your list and provide them with value so that when they come to your product again in the future, they have learnt to trust you and feel connected to you in some way in your area of expertise, that they will buy your product.
Another mith I must eliminate is that you do not need a huge list to profit. It goes back to the saying “Its quality, no quantity,” and it is absolutely right, if you build a small list and have a great relationship with them then your going to make more money from them than someone who’s managed to make a list ten times the size who bombards them with sales pitch after sales pitch.
So how do you build a relationship with your list?
First off you need to find something you think will be of value to them, and more importantly will help them. You then need to offer it to them for free, in exchange for their name and email address. But what I must stress, theres no point bundling some stuff together quickly and throwing it out there, if its not very good they wont be very impressed and they will go away with a poor image of you or your business. After this your going to keep on doing it, again and again, keep providing them with helpful stuff that is of value to them.
The important note to remember is that if you build a list of targeted subscribers, its very likely they will buy from you, and then in the future because of the relationship you have with them, they are likely to buy from you again, and again.

1. Imagine one reader for your list. This may sound a little counter-intuitive at first. After all, you want tens of thousands of readers on your list, right?
Of course you do. But you want to target like you’re reaching out to one individual. This is a carry-over from offline direct mail marketing that works well with Internet marketing.
This doesn’t mean that you have to assume your readers are all cookie-cutter drones. They’re not, and you won’t make much money if you assume that they are. So make sure your email messages reflect that. Don’t ask them to help you out by buying your products. Help him or her by providing useful content that is centered around your reader. And when you throw in that marketing message, make sure it’s centered on how buying the next product or service can fill that reader’s needs, whatever those needs might be.
3. Don’t just try and sell, sell, sell. Make sure you provide value for your reader by providing useful information with every message in your autoresponder series. There’s nothing wrong with the occasional blast to your list about a great new product. But for most niches, you should send out a steady stream of content that your reader can find value in.
At the very best, constant blatant marketing messages will desensitize your reader, so that he or she will be unlikely to buy anything from you.
